This is the family history of my Turner ancestors. Early History Based on: 1. SUSANNAH HAMNER TURNER BIBLE: The Turner family records indicate a Terisha T. Turner (the ancient) was born about 1709 and lived until 1801 (Terisha Will) . The earliest record found indicates he patented 200 Acres of land on the south side of the James River in Virginia December 15, 1749. He married Sarah Wimpey who died in 1806. They had 8 children, one was my direct ancestor Stephen Ruben Turner born in 1739 in Amherst County Virginia and died in 1799. Stephen Ruben Turner married Susanna Hamner on October 9, 1764. Susan was born in 1745 and was the daughter of William Hamner and Mary Elizabeth Hendley. They had many children, one of which was James Turner born about 1779. James Turner married Elizabeth Sims in Warren County, NC ( one record says Molly Allen, daughter of Charles) on Feb. 9, 1801 and had a son, William Turner born the 19th day of May 1803. Based on a biography written by Stephen Barton Turner, William Turner was born in North Carolina in 1803. The family traveled to Wilson County, Tennessee in about 1832 where William married Judith Chick in Wilson County, TN on June 7, 1832. Judith who was born in 1813 in Virginia.. They eventually moved to Kentucky as they appear in the 1850 Logan County, KY Census with William's occupation being Blacksmith.
William Turner Grave Stone - Butler County Kentucky ( Click on Image to Enlarge) William Scott Turner was born to William and Judith in Nov.1, 1852. His third marriage was to Nancy T. Cohron who was born about 1860. Grace Turner was born to William Scott and Nancy T. on April 12, 1904 in Russellville, Ky. She died in 1980 in Russellville. Grace Turner married Owen Mitchell Orange in Mitchellville, TN, on Sept 21, 1919. Their only child was Warren Turner Orange born October 31, 1921 in Russellville.
